Open question

Was Ann Gurney (Gilman) John's sister?

Whether the Ann Gurney who married John Gilman at Hingham in 1626 was John Gurney's sister is unresolved. The Pease genealogy identifies her as a daughter of Francis Gurney by his first marriage - which, if correct, would make her John's sister - but no primary record links her to Francis, her Gilman children were baptised at West Dereham some twenty miles from Francis's East Dereham parish, and a separately recorded Ann Gurney married Peter Woodcocke at West Dereham in 1618/19 and may be a different woman. The kinship rests on a single compiled genealogy, not a record.
