Evidence
Frances Hovell as Edward Gournay's widow, and "Cozen Gurney" in Mary Goodwin's 1647 will
Two Hovell-of-Hillington pedigree charts in Muskett read "Frances Howell maried to Edward Gurney of East Basham in Com' Norf. Esqr." and "Frances, wife of Edward Gurney of East Barsham, co. Norfolk, Esq., 1647." The 1647 will of Mary Goodwin of St Giles', Norwich, widow — a Hovell by birth — names "Sister Byng: sister Frances Hovell of Hillington Cozen Gurney: cozen Coulson" among her legatees and was proved in the Archdeaconry of Norwich on 19 February 1647/8. Edward Gournay's widow was therefore Frances Hovell of Hillington, and the Hovells still acknowledged Gurney kin in November 1647.

- Supports Finding The senior West Barsham branch in the East Dereham orbit, 1636–1641Fixes the branch's terminal generation and its kin acknowledged in 1647.
