Francis Gurney's Merchant Taylors' apprenticeship 1599–1605 and freedom, 30 June 1606
Francis Gurney was bound apprentice in London on 14 May 1599, aged about seventeen, to Henry Tryme of the Merchant Taylors' Company "near Ludgate," for a seven-year term from Whitsun. On 3 February 1605 the Company court assigned him over to William Smooth, Merchant Taylor of Lothbury, ahead of a documented journey north. He was admitted to the freedom of the Company on 30 June 1606 (Daniel Gurney's Supplement gives 16 June, an unresolved two-week discrepancy).
