Open: Mendon post-1667 record vs John's 1662/3 death (right carried forward vs retrospective)
Because Mendon was incorporated only 15 May 1667 and John died 1662/3, his name in the printed Mendon proprietors' record stream postdates his death: it is most plausibly an early 1662 grant carried forward into the later proprietor list or a retrospective allottee entry rather than proof of residence. Whether the 1662 acceptance and the post-incorporation lot are the same right - and how 'John Gurny' and 'Grisel Gurney' as twenty-acre lot-holders relate to the widow/descendants - is developed in the family-Mendon-descendants topic; the manuscript proprietors' images remain the pull.
