Reception into an established Weymouth community, not a shared voyage
John Gurney's migration reads as the reception of a newcomer into an already-established Weymouth community rather than arrival with a known emigration party: the men he is first grouped with in the 1641 gunpowder-fines record — James Ludden (an Old Planter by 1632) and Richard Porter (a 1635 Hull-company settler) — and his later Weymouth creditor John King were all settlers of a half-generation's standing, not fellow newcomers.
